Happy 10 Months, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, & Happy New Year!

We have had a busy December, as I'm sure many of you have too.

Starting off our December with a stay in the hospital wasn't exactly how we would have planned our Christmas season to begin.  But Luke got over his sickness, and we enjoyed our first Christmas as a family of 3.

Quick Update After Hospital Stay

I just wanted to give a quick update after our trip to the ER.  I will post a better blog update with fun pictures later.

Here's just a quick recap of the past week -

Thursday Luke wasn't feeling well, so we went to the doctor (our dr. was on vacation, so we saw someone else).  She diagnosed him with the croup and sent us home (after a cortisone shot & antibiotics).

Friday morning he was worse, so I called the dr.'s office.  The nurse could hear him breathing on the phone and told me to take him to the ER.  This was a little before noon.  Paul Michael met us at the ER.  Once we got there, it didn't take long to get us back.  They agreed that it was the croup - a very severe case.  The plan of action was to give him a breathing treatment (epinephrine & something else, I can't remember) and see how he was 3 hours later. If he was better at the 3 hour mark, they'd send us home.   So, after the first breathing treatment Luke had x-rays of his chest and neck.  Well, it wasn't 30 minutes after the first treatment that the doctor said he'd be admitting us because he breathing had reverted back to the way it was when we came in.

We were in the ER from noon to 5:15.  Luke had a few breathing treatments while we were in the ER and another when we got to PICU.  We had to wait a while for a room in PICU.  I think the ER doctor wanted to send us to PICU rather than PEDS for precaution.  When we got to PICU, the doctor did not seem near as worried at the folks in ER.

The first night he had no breathing treatments.  They gave him an intramuscular steroid in the ER and IV steroids once we got to PICU.  At noon on Saturday they started breathing treatments every 4 hours until 8 am Sunday (this made for a harder night Saturday night).  And they discontinued the steroids at 2 pm Saturday.

Since he was still doing good, we came home about noon Sunday.

After a few breathing treatments and steroids Friday, Luke was feeling better.  He would make eyes and talk to all his nurses.  He enjoyed the attention!

Today, he seemed like is normal self!  He still has a bit of a cough.  But he is crawling all over the house.  One of his favorite things to do (that he knows he's not supposed to) is climb the stairs when the gate is open.  And that was all he wanted to do today.  I couldn't take my eyes off him.  He keeps me on my toes, but I'm glad.

9 Months Old

9.22.12
Woops!  It has been a while since I've updated.  I've been busy...chasing a kiddo!  Luke is crawling EVERYWHERE! And just within the last couple of weeks, pulling up on EVERYTHING!  It's hard to keep up with him or anything else for that matter.

9.23.12
The end of September we finally joined a church.  We've felt like we've been to every church in Shreveport.  We are actually back to the very first church we visited when we moved over here - Summer Grove Baptist Church.  We found a great Sunday School class.  I'm doing my second ladies Bible study.  We're really enjoying the church and looking forward to the Holidays here.

The week after we joined, we participated in baby dedication.  Luke was thankful to have all his grandparents here for that special day.

9.30.12

The first part of October Luke got his first tooth (and his second the first of November)!  I hope this is the reason for his not sleeping well.

10.13.12 - Happy 8 Months - Game Day with Dad
The end of October Luke and I went for a visit to Granny & PaPaw's.  Lindsey & Riley came to visit too!  We sure had a good time playing.

10.22.12 - Luke loved the goats!  He loved the neighbor's horse even more.

10.25.12 - Luke loving on Riley

Luke standing on Riley.

10.26.12 - Best buds

10.27.12

The first weekend in November was Paw's 87th birthday, so Luke, Granny, and I went for a visit to see him.

11.4.12

An update in case you were wondering - we are still cloth diapering (almost exclusively), and I am still making baby food (although he wants to feed himself, and that poses a bit of a challenge).

11.13.12 - Yay!  9 months old!
Luke goes for his 9 month check up in a couple of weeks.  I will update on how heavy this guy is then...

Five Years later...

Happy 5th Anniversary to my wonderful husband, best friend, and dad!

I can't believe five years have flown by.  It seems like this picture was taken just yesterday.  It's amazing how much has changed in five years...how far God has brought us.  I am so thankful everyday for what the Lord has provided for me and my family.

We have had a busy month - a trip to Monroe for Peyton's 4th birthday party, on to KK's (in Magee, MS) for a visit & to take 6 month pictures, and an anniversary trip to Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Hanging out with the great grands at Peyton's party

6 month photos....more coming soon

Happy 7 Months!  We made it to Dallas (snotty nose & all)

At the Dallas World Aquarium
At the Ft. Worth zoo...
Checking out all the animals
Silly Dad - good thing he didn't make me ride on the first lizard we saw
We had a good time in Dallas.  Luke was such a trooper.  When we left Shreveport Thursday, he had a bit of a runny nose.  Thank goodness it never really got worse, and he never acted like he felt too bad.

We were on the go the whole time we were gone.  Lots of walking/strolling, shopping, eating, browsing.  Luke is just so easy going.  He just goes with the flow.  He enjoyed looking at all the animals at the aquarium and zoo.  It took us a little over 3 hours to see the whole zoo, and Luke hung with us until the last 45 minutes.  He just couldn't hold those heavy eyes open anymore.

6 Months Old

I know I say this all the time, but I really can not believe how fast time goes by.  6 months old already?!

We had a very quick check up Tuesday (8/14).  He is 16 lbs. 14 oz. and 26 inches long.  Everything is well.

Luke started solid food July 30.  We've tried only a few foods - cereal :(, avocado :), banana :), sweet potato :), and carrot (the jury is still out if he likes carrots or not).

On August 4th, we celebrated Carley's first birthday.
